Stephen Clasper Interiors has been shortlisted for two further 2014 international awards – for Best Living Space and Best Kitchen over £100,000.

an extensive range of hand-crafted bespoke furniture combined with sumptuous fabrics in carefully-matched tones provide the ultimate in comfort and opulence

The shortlist positions have been confirmed by the International Design & Architecture Awards for the company’s design and installation of:

  • an open-plan living space for a luxury home in Sunningdale, Berkshire
  • a bespoke kitchen and family room in a property in St George’s Hill, Surrey

The Sunningdale brief was to turn a prestigious, contemporary home into a glamorous, open-plan area for relaxing and entertaining.

Creative Director Stephen Clasper explains: “The client wanted to personalise her new home and create a sumptuous living space where she could entertain her friends in style. She wanted the home to be striking and unique. It had to complement her collection of contemporary art. Above all, it needed to radiate glamour.”

The judges commented that: “The designers hand-crafted an extensive range of bespoke furniture which would be unique to this project and introduced sumptuous fabrics in carefully-matched tones to provide the ultimate in comfort and opulence.

“They hand-crafted a curved Champagne bar incorporating chrome and mirror finishes and leather upholstery in the client’s favourite shade of purple. It stands as a striking, luxurious focal point for the entire living space.”

The client’s brief for the St George’s Hill kitchen was to deliver a highly distinctive space – the likes of which he’d never seen before – from initial design to final installation.

a striking, glamorous space designed for cooking, eating, relaxing and entertaining

The Clasper team designed a TV area and a distinctive circular display, and incorporated a secret, walk-in larder behind a pair of tall cabinet doors. The designers used maccassar veneer and coloured, high-gloss lacquer finishes with polished chrome touches.

The judges said: “Stephen Clasper Interiors’ own craftsmen hand-made all items of fitted bespoke furniture in their workshop to ensure they were unique to this client and tightly co-integrated with the overall design. The end result is a striking, glamorous space for cooking, eating, relaxing and entertaining.

“The island breakfast bar is a stunning focal point for the room. It makes great use of the space and, with its polished maccassar top and mirror-finished stand, delivers immediate ‘wow’ factor to anyone walking into the room.”
